About Us
So who are we?

Sharing a meal...
We are Duncan and Gemma, two Australians who have been living in London doing the working/travelling thing since late 2005. Duncan is an IT geek working in web development for marketing companies, and Gemma is a physiotherapist… so between us we have bugger all mechanical skills or language skills… perfect for a long trip through rough terrain in foreign countries.
Are we daunted by this? Naah… we’ve bought a book and audio course on Russian, and we’ve helped Julian who prepped our car for a few days so we at least know the names of some of the metal bits under the bonnet and learnt we can hit most bits of the axles with a bronze hammer with no damage. Sorted. In reality we could change fluids, belts, filters, globes and stuff, and tighten things that rattle or squeek, but any major work that goes beyonds the scope of a haynes manual and a small tool kit is going to have to be seen by a proper mechanic. But we have a Land Cruiser… so hopefully there should be no problems! :)
So why are we doing this? Why not :) We were looking into what we should do for our final batch of holidays before going home when the Long Way Round started showing on TV. And Gem has a thing for Ewan McGregor so she thought it would be a good idea to do a similar trip but back to Oz instead. We started to look into it and found out that there are actually quite a few people who have done it… we’d just never really been involved in the “overlanding community” before so it was all new to us. Plenty of research later and we figured it was actually feasible… and sounded awesome! So we bought a car, got it prepped, and got ourselves ready!
